runaway success
Despite dreadful weather, the 17th Terrier Derby was an enormous success. Over 60 dogs competed for the coveted Smudge Cup. Hundreds of hardy souls turned up to cheer on the crazy canines and early £1000 was raised on the day. The grand total raised for the Royal Marsden Charity was well over the £4000 target, so a massive thanks to everyone who supported, contributed, and competed.
After 16 heats, quarter and semi-finals, the 2021 Terrier Derby was won by Jasper, a super tough working Jack Russell, owned by Divena Chambers, repeating his victory of 2019.
mad hatters
The rain failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the dozens of entries for the best-turned out dog competition which was also great fun and and great success. The special doggie hat, crafted by celebrity milliner Jessica Rea, was won by the adorable Tallulah, a beautiful Newfoundland. There were also special hats for Archie the Patterdale who had run so gallantly in the final, and Scooby, a veteran of countless Terrier Derby’s.
